The status icon for one of my servers (and also for the associated sql agent), which is usually a solid green cirle with a white right facing arrow in the center has changed to an empty white circle with a thin green perimeter. I do not know what this means.
For that server: I cannot start/stop/pause/restart because all of those options are grayed out. Other servers that I am connected to appear with the usual active status icon and can be paused/restarted.
Does anyone know what the empty white circle with a green perimeter status icon means?

I'm just now experiencing the same thing. Have you found out what the issue is?

Nevermind...I think our server permissions were changed so that I don't have local admin rights on the box. I'm still a sysadmin, but can't stop, start, or restart any services.
