I have DatabaseMail setup on our 64-bit SharePoint server. I have a number of backup jobs setup to notify me if the job fails. For some reason I get an email for all of the transaction and system dbs backups even when the job succeeds. I have the notification set to email when the job fails. Here is the message on the email I receive:
NEW COMPONENT OUTPUT
Microsoft (R) Server Maintenance Utility (Unicode) Version 9.0.3042
Report was generated on "SERVERNAME".
Maintenance Plan: MAINTENANCE PLAN NAME
Duration: 00:00:00
Status: Succeeded.
Details:
I get this exact message whether or not the job succeeds or fails. The duration of the job is also wrong, it should at least show a few milliseconds.

I think, you have selected "When the job COMPLETES".
Change it to "When the job FAILS"

I selected 'When the job fails' from the dropdown.

Was the job created through maint Plan, if yes did you change the job outside of the maint plan, i.e. did u make changes to the job without the maint plan.

I've made all of my changes through the maintenance plan.
