I am running SQL 2005 Standard and when I look at View (job) History, I only get two days History on any given job.
I would like to change this setting to 7 days, but on the SQL Server Agent Properties, I only see job history log sizes (number of rows) and "Automatically remove agent history" - unselected.
Is this a default setting somewhere else?

Yes - settings are 1000 Max size and 100 Max rows per job

Yes - settings are 1000 Max size and 100 Max rows per job
This means that only 100 Rows will be stored per job, if the job tuns evey minute then you will have a history of 100 minutes 🙂
disable this setting and enable the Automatically remove agent History for 7 days ( as you needed).
Hope this helps

Hi All,
This is something that has interested me as well. When I set the Agent to automatically remove job logs older than 7 days and click 'okay,' everything appears fine. However, when I open the History settings again, that box is unchecked. Any idea on why this would be happening? Is it something to worry about?
Thanks,
Nate
