Installing Integration Services on SP2 instance

  • Hi,

We have a Database Server that has been upgraded to SP2 GDR2 (9.0.3054). Currently Integration Services is not installed on this server.

If I install Integration Services from the vanilla SQL Server 2005 installation disks, I belive that if I run the SP2 installation it recognises the fact that it only needs to upgrade Integration Services to SP2 and then upgrades integration services.

If I then run the GDR2 hotfix, is this similarly intelligent in knowing that it only needs to be applied to integration services or does GDR2 only get applied to the Database Engine

    Many thanks

  • All SPs and hotfixes will only patch unpatched "parts"

  • Many Thanks for that Crispin, I thought it might be the case, but it's good to get it confirmed. I have just moved to a new organization and inherited a setup that has no test environment or test servers on which to try these things. It's a case of making changes directly to the live servers and crossing your fingers and toes and making several backups of everything first. I've discovered a new found sense of caution that I thought I never had 😉

  • Take a walk on the wild side and do it. If it bails, sit back and whistle like you know nothing....
