Is there any way to provide more priority to specific SPID or user in sql server 2005 interms of allocate more memory and/or IO than peer? There is new feature provided in SQL Server 2008 as Resource Governer and wanted to check if we can achieve same in sql server 2005.

Not that I am aware of. I also believe the Resource Governor limits, but does not boost. I could be wrong though.

Under the processor tab of the properties in SQL Server 2005 you have an option to boost SQL Server Priority. also you can select the process from Tsak manager right click and set priority to the process. Not user if its user specific though.

I echo Jack...this can be acheived for SQL Server as a whole by setting the "priority boost" to high, but not for individual spid's.
