SP LOG SPEACE IS RELEASED OR NOT

  • Hi Exports,

Here i am executing one stored procedure after execution that stored procedure is transaction log space released or not

any body give good suggestion in this issue plz

  • NO! a proc only influences the database.

Depending on the recovery model of that particular database, log file entries can be overwritten or not.

In normal situations, it is considered to be a bad practise to have auto shrink enabled for a production database.

So, the logfile(s) themself will not shrink.

If your db is in "simple recovery" mode, log entries will be overwritten after a commit or rollback of a transaction.

With the other recovery models, you'll need to perform a log backup to tell your db to overwrite the log entries.

Check books online for recovery models !!
