Read thru the SQL BOL for anything that you need in regards to SQL. There are even tutorials. That is the best place to look for answers

The SQL 2005 Bible is a really good book which contains a lot of the information that you need to get you started.

Second the motion on "SQL Server 2005 Bible". Excellent book. The 2000 version of that book made it possible for me to learn SQL when I needed to.

In order to be a good DBA practice the following:
1. Practice T-SQL. A good DBA is the one whose T-SQL knowledge is good.
2. Read Books Online.
3. Read the articles on various websites.
4. Participate in Online forums.
5. Read the guide which contains all the essentials which are required for a DBA written by Brad McGahee. It is posted on ww.simple-talk.com
