Active user connections to SQL 2005

  • Though the user logout from server 2005(session) still that users are showing in activity monitor or sp_who or sp_who2 or sysprocesses system table ouput ,with process status as 'sleeping' ,last_waittype as 'MISCELLANEOUS',cmd as 'AWAITING COMMAND'.

    Setup:

    server:sql server 2005 enterprise edition x64 bit with sp2

    Windows server 2003 standard edition x64 bit with sp1

    Processor:Dual core AMD(optron) 64 processor 2210

    No of processors:2

    Please help me solve this problem.

    Pls,revert urgently.

  • Hi,

    This sounds like connection pooling, which is how a lot of apps access SQL Server. If so, this is how it's supposed to work, so unless you're certain it's causing problems don't mess with it.

  • Beside connection pooling it could also be a situation that a user has few connections. He closed one of them, but still has other open connections and those are the connections that you see.
