How do you setup a Export to a Excel File format from a Text file format. Most of the articles tells you how to import/export to a excel file from sql table.
I try with dtsx package and setup a flat file source connection for the text file with column Tab deliminated.
and setup the Excel file as the Source.
The mapping doesnot go through. The text file sees the whole row as 1 column even though I say it is Tab deliminated and should come out as 8 columns.
Excel file (which I created manually to have 8 columns) .
Any suggestions?

Are you sure the file is tab delimited? Have you previewed the source in ssis to verify you are getting the columns? Have you manually mapped the columns in the destination?
