I have a 2 node cluster and did a clean installation of 2005. I haven't applied any service packs and yet the sql agent will not start. All other services are started and working great. I've tried using a domain user and a domain admin user and neither will start the service. Any ideas? I have gone through article

even though i'm not yet on that version. Any help would be great. Thanks.

Are you receiving any messages? Anything in the system event log, or the SQL Server log?

Since this is a clean install, I would upgrade to SP2 + CU9 or 10
and only then try debugging this

Thanks for the replies. How can I successfully install sp2 if the service won't start? It's my understanding that part of the sp process is to start and stop services....
