Opinion on a share off the main SQL Box

  • What do you think?

Is there a sound reason to stop people creating shares off the main production clustered SQl box?

There is an application that requires a local share off the SQL box.

    Your thoughts....

  • I don't see a problem with this as long as the share has the correct permissions and is not on any of the SQL Server areas. I'd put it on a separate disk to prevent whatever is writing to it from interferring with SQL Server or filling up the SQL Server disks.
