Hey,
Has anyone heard anything about the 70-253 upgrade exam for exsisting MCITP and MCTS 2005 holders?
Thanks,
Phillip Cox

As far as I know, only two of the TS exams are currently available (432 and 448) The third of the TS exams (433) is in beta. I think that only the admin and BI ITP exams have been through beta so far and last I heard they were scheduled for release in Nov.
I haven't seen any mention of the upgrade exams at all. Perhaps we'll hear more after the ITP eams are available.

I'll probably hear a day or so after it's available. If I hear anything, I'll let you know.

Yesterday I passed the 70-453 with 700 score :D. I used db-staff preparation guide. The exam consists of ts and pro parts and as usually the least score counts. I gained 863 in ts part and exactly 700 in second.

What is ts?

TS stands for Technical Specialist. The 'entry level' certification.

Congratulations on passing the upgrade exam. Did you find it to be difficult? Can you compare its difficulty level with the MCITP exams? I am doing all my MCITP 2005 exams (5 exams, both MCITP DBA and Dev) this week, and I will try to do the upgrade 453 right after them.
How is the format of 453? Does it have case scenarios like 443, or is more specific like 444?
Thanks!

Hello. It does not have any scenarios and/or simulations. Just Questions mostly single choice.
It should not be difficult for you to pass this exam right after 2005 series 'cause most of questions don't concern specifically 2008 edition at all. It is not too difficult but there were arround 5 questions about .Net+CLR where I am weak and these questions appeared to me to be tough. The another obstacle is lack the lack of preparation materials but that's why you can still become Charter Member 🙂
Good luck with your certification!
Thanks, Vadym.

Thanks Vadym. Your answer helps me a LOT. What do you mean by "Charter Member"?
Have you done the upgrade from 2005 to 2008 of the MCITP SQL Dev?
Thanks again

Congratulations Phillip!
What was your score?
How did you prepare?
Did you become also charter member?

Thanks for clarifying Vadym. Just a couple of more questions if I may:
1) Did you have to do anything special to get the Charter Member certification?
2) Are there any benefits in being a Charter Member?
Thanks
