Hi everyone im having troubles with creating instances of sql server 2005 in my windows vista could any one help me?
I got installed the sql server 2005 SP2 i've just downloaded and installed, as i read before in a microsoft's webpage, this should resolve some kinds of incompatibility, but i still having problems.

You cannot install Sql Server 2005 Enterprise edition in your Windows Vista. You need to have a server OS to accomplish the same. Refer this link for system requirements, http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms143506.aspx

Ok i thought that installing sql server in windows vista would work as in windows xp worked, but anyway, i was thinking in using some kind of virtual server machine installed in windows vista

You cannot install Sql 2005 EE in Vista or XP as it requires server OS like Windows 2003 or 2000 etc..However you can install Sql 2005 evaluation edition in both XP and in Vista or you can install it in Virtual server

SQL Server Enterprise edition can only be installed on the following Server OS:
Windows Server 2000 with SP4
Windows Advanced Server 2000 with SP4
Windows Datacenter Server 2000 with SP4
Windows Server 2003with SP1
Windows Advanced Server 2003 with SP1
Windows Datacenter Server 2003 with SP1
Windows 2003 Small Business Server with SP1
You cannot install the SQL server enterprise edition on XP or VISTA.

You can install the Developer Edition on Windows 7, XP so i'm guessing Vista would be okay too. I have SQL 2008 Developer Edition on my Win 7 machine.

Developer Edition has all the Enterprise features. Use that on workstations.
I believe the EULA prohibits running a production system on Developer, so please don't plan on that. If you have a database that is to be deployed on EE and used by clients, it needs to be on a server OS.
