Difference between cluster setup -- SQL server 2000 and Sql server 2005

  • Hi,

Can you please give some points on the differences between the Installation of Clusters on SQL 200 and SQL 2005 servers (on Windows Server 2003 SP1). Please point me to informative links.

    TIA

  • Read the Installing SQL Server in Books Online - look under Preparing... -> Configuring High Availability.

Biggest difference is that you need to create AD-group(s).

  • Watch out if you're using SSIS as well, as by default this will not be clustered and when you fail over to the second node packages will not execute from scheduled jobs. There are numerous links out there as to how to cluster it (works fine but against Microsoft recommendations) or how to put in place workarounds.

    cheers
