I have a developer who has been trying to install the DTS Components but gets the following error during install (for several dlls)
Module C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\80\Tools\Binn\dtsui.dll failed to register.
HRESULT -2147024714. Contact your support personnel.
Then when he trys to open a DTS package he gets the following error:
The ordinal 29 could not be located in the dynamic link library odbcbcp.dll.
He is running on WINDOWS XP SP2 has the Standard version of SQL 2005 installed (and working fine) upgraded to SP2. And is running MDAC 2.8 SP1.

Unfortunatlly we checked the install and it was fine. Just to be sure we re-installed it but still no difference.

Yea I saw alot of postings about it related to SQL 2000 but nothing related to SQL 2005. And I can't find anything on the previous error that isn't related to the MDAC version on Windows 2000.

only solution i found is to terminal server into a server we upgraded where they seem to work
otherwise the best thing to do is to change everything over to SSIS

Did you take note whether he had allowed remote connections yet? (Surface area config). I just came across something implying that might be the issue (not sure I trust it - but it seems a harmless recommendation?).

He only has the client tools installed. I thought that the remote connections setting was for the server level only?
He can connect to the server with the packages .. and even see the package list. He just can't edit them.
