Going to be installing an active/active 64 bit cluster. Do I need to create a seperate instance for each node.(not using a default instance) Sorry having a tough time finding and active/active documentation

I think Yes, you can do that. But Be careful of max memory in each instance.

There is no way to have an Active/Active configuration without installing at least two instances. Each will require their own cluster group with their own network name / IP Address and unique physical drive(s).
Technically, you can install both to the same node then fail it over before use. However, I'd recommend installing an instance from each node. This way, you get the non-cluster aware portions (integration services, client tools, etc.) on both nodes without having to perform a special installation.
