The Maintenance Plan folder in the Management studio has no plans listed..How should I view/edit existing plans?

Hi,
Are we talking about Maintenance Plans or SQL Server Agent Jobs? You can create new plans by simply right-clicking 'Maintenance Plans' and choosing 'New Maintenance Plan' or 'Maintenance Plan Wizard'.
Are you saying that you have already created maintenance plans but they are not appearing?

HI,
I have created some Maintenance plans using design and wizard options in the Managaemnt studio to backup some databases every night..I want to open the existing maintenance plans and edit them..I do not want to use MS visual studio..Is there any way, I can edit in management studio?..I tried and I do not see the MPs in the 'Management ->Maintenance Plans' folder..I can see the MP (Maintenance Plans) in the SSIS..

Hi DP,
You should be able to right-click on the maintenance plans and choose 'Modify' to edit them but as you can't see them you can't do that. What happens if you right-click on Maintenance Plans and choose 'Refresh' do they appear?
Can you actually see the 'Maintenance Plans' folder? Perhaps it's sql permission related?
Can you post SQL Server version details and any Service Pack/Hotfixes applied.
Regards,
Mark

Have you refreshed your list in your Object Explorer? If you have a Maintenance Plan, it should show it there when you expand it. If you have a Maintenance Plan, it should also create a job under SQL Server Agent > Jobs by the same name. Do neither of these show up? If not, I wouldn't know if they even existed according to the DBMS.
Edit: In the interests of being thorough, you are right-clicking on the actual Maintenance Plan you are trying to modify, yes? You will not get the Modify if you just right-click on Maintenance Plan in Object Explorer. From the way you talk, it sounds like you didn't actually create them inside SSMS. Back to the modify thing, you can also double-click a maintenance plan to open the editor.
