Install Question

  • It seems like I remember in SQL 2000, you could start setup with some command line switch, go thru the install GUI, and instead of installing it would spit out an settings (ini) file. Then you could use this file as an argument for a silent commandline install instead of using the GUI.

    Does anyone know if this is a feature in SQL2005 also, and what the syntax is?

  • i dont know of any gui based installation to create the ini file in sql server 2005 but see the template.ini on the installation disc there is all the info you are looking for and additional information here http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms144259.aspx
