I (my company, actually) am in a bit of a bind. Our copy of SQL Server 7 install disk is scratched beyond readability, and we need a copy to migrate to a new server. That version is no longer supported by Microsoft and they will not provide a copy of the software. Does anyone have a copy of the disk? I am NOT looking to pirate the software. We have our own copy of the software, and the key codes that go with it. We just can't install it because the disk is too damaged.
Yes we have plans to migrate to a newer version but for now we cannot. We have many homemade applications that rely on it and we'll have to tweak several of those first.
Your help would really get out me out of bind.
Thanks

If disk is damaged then you can call the vendor for help they will have few tools to recover data from disk depending on the hardware.

Sugesh, I don't thing you understood the question. It is not his system, but his install media for SQL Server 7.
I checked MSDN and you can download 6.5, but not 7. Didn't go as far as checking any further than that. However there are some CD repair tools that can be used to fix the disk. Personally I protect ALL my media by using images rather than the actual disks.
Alcohol is really good, and they have a free version that is very powerful. In some cases it can even recover a bad disk. There are several others that have similar products that can do the same thing. Never used 7, so I don't have a copy to send you. There has to be someone on this forum that has the media. Good luck.
Another option might be to image your existing system onto the new server. There are tools that undo everything that allow you to reset the new system. Sysprep tools (DeployTools). I used it once when I created an virtual image to do some testing.

Now i understand that you have your CD containing the install files of SQL7 scratched. There are few tools on net that can be used to read CDs like those just google out better always write the contents of the CDs to a file server so that you have a backup copy of the same.

the actual file was named en_SQL7.exe, and I also downloaded SP4: EN_SQL70_SP4.exe

Since the disk is pretty much ruined in your view, I would goto BestBuy and buy a CD scratch remover. I have one that works very well.

Thank you all for your help.
The bad news. No amount of scratch removal could do it. We tried. The biggest problem was that a couple good scratches were on the foil side of the CD so there was no recovering from that.
The good news is that I did find somebody who knew somebody who had a copy. It is in the mail. Let's hope it doesn't get scratched up in transit.
Next time you'll probably here from me getting advice on upgrading to 2005.
Until then,
Thanks
