SQL Gang,
I have to install Full-Text Search on sql server 2000 prod without affecting the sql instance. Service pack running is 8.00.818 (We will update this to sp4 w/o AWE fix since it only has 2GB later when we get downtime) Right now I have a test enviornment to do this in.
I have followed the manual installation guide http://support.microsoft.com/kb/827449 for manual re-install instructions. Since we do not have Full-text installed I have not needed to delete any registires. I did have to update a registry value MSSQL75. Long story short I was able to validate that the MSSearch service was running and all the necessary updates to the registry was done. I have ran the stpsetup.exe file and ftsetup.exe file. Even on the third step in the article when it said to upgrade(Which I thought was duplicated since I did not see any difference)
Question: Why am I not able to see Full-text Search under my support Services folder?
Thanks for your help in advance,
Reshad (Wanna be MVP 😀 )

This is on a sql server 2000 system. I just recieved an update from work and found out that if you execute the install mssetupstp.exe and ftsetup.exe from service pack then it works. One step forward!
Thanks guys!
