Try to install SQL Server 2005 client tool on window XP

    I tried to install SQL Server 2005 enterprise edition (32 bit) on my laptop which runs on window XP profession version with service pack 2. I kept getting error about failing to install SQLXML4.

    I just want to install the client tool so I can connect to my company's database to work.

    Should I use some other version?

    You can only install client tools and not the database engine of Sql Server 2005 Enterprise Edition. To install client tools run the Sqlrun_tools.msi file available in Tools\Setup folder of your Sql Server 2005 CD/DVD. If you encounter any error pls post the content of summary.txt file so that it will be easier to troubleshoot.

    You can also run the setup and only tick the workstation components.
