I have a PC at home with Dual Hard Disks. On one of the Hard Disks I have installed Windows XP and have my Visual Basic 6 installed as well , where I have developed a software. On the other Hard Disk I have installed Windows 2000 server. On this I have SQL Server 7. When I attempt to create a DSN from XP , I get a TCP/IP error. Sometimes it is error message 6 , sometimes 16.Generally it says "Sever not found". While creating the DSN , in the "Which SQL Server do you want to connect to" combo box , there are no options I can select from.
On the other hand I can easily create a DSN from Windows Server 2000 to "local" Server. The only problem is that the software I have developed does not run here due to msadox.dll being of another version !
How can I , to begin with , get to create a DSN in XP and connect to the Server on the other CPU? I am a little new to this and would appreciate if someone could please help with this.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Looks to me like a dual boot system. Only one can run at a time, so I don't see how he is going to get what he wants.

Hi,
Thanks, I guess having a dual boot system is the reason why I cant connect from one to another. Now, I installed MDAC 2.8 on the windows 2000 server (to upgrade the software I created from v2.5). So now, I am able to run the software in the win2k server (which was not happening earlier) BUT now unable to connect to sql server (which was possible before MDAC installation!). What have I done wrong? Thanks for the inputs on this...

Thank you for asking. Yes , I can connect to the Query Analyser and access the database from the Enterprise manager. Its only when I try to run my application that I get an error "connection not open". In fact , it was not connecting via application giving an msadox.dll version error. After I ran the MDAC setup , this problem was solved and a new one has come...its not connecting to the DB.
I have a standalone PC ...no network.I have Windows Server 2000 on which I have SQL Server 7 and have setup Visual Studio for my VB Application.
Please help ! I have been at it the past few days and cant come to any conclusion !
Thanks !

My oledb32.dll file version is 2.8. I checked this just now.
Has this file got anything to do with my SQL problem ?
Thanks.
