Delete database and disk space recovery

    Hello All,

    After deleting a large database, I could not recover the disk space. I detached the database and then I deleted it. Is there anything else I need to do in order to recover the disk space?

    If you've deleted the file, then the space is recovered. Perhaps you need to refresh the window in Explorer.

    Did you delete the mdf AND ldf?

    Hello All,

    Just that you know, I deleted the database file and the log file for that deleted database from the MSSQL/Data directory manually and was able to reclaim the disk space.

    I deleted MDF file, but could not find the LDF file.
