SQL server 2005 as SQL Server 2000

  • hi there

Is it possible to use SQL server 2005 as SQL server 2000? had a chat with one of the DBA and he mentioned that setting a FLAG in SQL SERVER 2005 will do the job. Is it correct??

    Cheers

  • Did you try to set complevel to 80?

  • No. I have been looking around, but didn't find any suitable answer to this. will setting complevel to 80 work?? pls let me know

    Cheers

  • Changing complevel helps, but may not solve all of your issues. To know whether or not it fits your case, you need to do more tests.

  • how about if I upgrade 2000 to SQL server 2005. whether my application will run on 2005. Do i need to upgrade anything else?

  • You've got to test.  We've begun the upgrade/migration process by creating a SQL 2005 test instance and migrating some databases, logins, jobs, and DTS packages.  Now we're testing our applications.

Microsoft has lots to say about upgrading.  See this site: http://www.microsoft.com/sql/solutions/upgrade/default.mspx
