SQL Mail Hanging

    Hi

    Did anyone come across an issue with sql mail hanging. Our Admin had moved the mailboxes to a different server and the sql mail has been hanging since. any insight will be much appreciated

    Thanks for the link! I have the same problem occasionally. I've suspected that network connection loss was the reason, but there is no way to fix it that I know of.

    The only sure remedy I've found is to restart the SQL Server service. Unfortunately, I have to wait for an opportune time. Rarely restarting the Mail server works, but only rarely.

    I'm hoping when I convert to Database Mail the problem will not occur anymore.

    Not to put too fine a point on it, but the resolution is to not use SQL Mail. Since we are in a SQL 2005 board you should be using Database Mail. It is about 10,000% more stable and effective than SQL Mail.

    So the question I have is why are you using SQL Mail?
