SQL Server 2000 Licensing - Connections per CAL allowed

  • Hi

We've got a client who purchased x number of CAL's for SQL Server 2000.

How many connections to SQL are allowed per CAL?

  • well - connections and CAL's are different concepts.  CAL = seat, meaning how many machines can connect to me at any given time.  The fact that as part of doing what they need to do, applications on a SINGLE user's machine might have several connections doesn't mean you need more CAL's.

Your lack of planning does not constitute an emergency on my part...unless you're my manager...or a director and above...or a really loud-spoken end-user..All right - what was my emergency again?
