Hi Everyone,
I setup database mirroring between two NAMED instances on two different servers. After completeing the database mirroring configuration, I clicked on Start Mirroring button then I got below error message. Both Named instances are running on other than default ports (1434) and mirror endpoints ports are 5022.
An Error occurred while starting mirroring
Alter failed for Database Test (Microsoft.SqlServer.Smo)
An exception occured while executing a Transact-SQL statement or batch.
Alter Database Command failed due to an invalid server connection string. (Microsoft SQL server, Error: 1449).
For testing purpose, I installed two named instances on same test box and configured database mirroring and that is working fine. so it seems the problems with two instances on DIFFERENT Servers.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi
Error message says "invalid connection string". Check the connection relate things , user accounts under which the 2 instances are running etc..
"Keep Trying"

Agree with Chirag, you must have some connection string mis-configuration.

Hi!
as per your error you have to check the service login id of both servers and connection userid and password of both servers. Becuase problem is only with these things.
Thanks & regards

To begin mirroring select Start Mirroring and the mirroring process will begin.
Make sure you have restored your backup on the mirror instance or this process will not work.
If you need to make changes select Do Not Start Mirroring and make the adjustments or do the restore if you have not done so already.
