sp_attach_db 300GB

    Hi,

    I'm moving a data file from a 300GB db to another logical drive, using sp_detach_db and sp_detach_db (same server). How long would it takes to attach a 300GB DB? Will it creates an issue regarding database user account?

    Hi Art,

    the detaching and attaching actually only take a second. What will take some time is the copying of the file, but the exact time depends on your hardware.

    As long as you leave the database on the same server you won't have to worry about users.
