Hi
I configuered database mail on one of my sqlserever instance and i created the profile and created account and tried to sent the test mail. But i cant do that and when i check in the sys_mail_log it is showing this message
The mail could not be sent to the recipients because of the mail server failure. (Sending Mail using Account 1 (2007-06-25T08:58:40). Exception Message: Cannot send mails to mail server. (Mailbox unavailable. The server response was: pkposani@gmail.com ...Relaying denied). )
what does this mean pls tell me how to trouble shoot it
its really urgent

to send database mails you must be a member of the DatabaseMailUserRole database role in the msdb database,also check if the mail server is up.....and ensure that port 25 is not blocked by macafee antivirus.....if u use macafee ensure that port 25 is not blocked

Iam able to ping my smtp server does this means that port 25 is open or do i need to ask our networking guys to open that

Try port 465 or 995

do this test to see if port 25 is open
telnet servername 25
if it takes you to a blank DOS screen its open else not.
