Hi ,
while installation my SQL Server 2005 on VISTA machine ,it is failing while installing ,workstation components.
Below is the error
Product : Workstation Components, Books Online and Development Tools
Error : SQL Server Setup Failed to compile the Managed Object Format (MOF) file C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\90\Shared\sqlmgmproviderxpsp2up.mof. To proceed, see "Troubleshooting an Installation of SQL Server 2005" or "How to: View SQL Server 2005 Setup Log Files" in SQL Server 2005 Setup Help documentation.
I cleaned all the SQL related stuff from My machine but still not luck , tried after renaming the MOF file also tried to re-register WMI by
%SYSTEMDRIVE%
CD %windir%\system32\wbem
Mofcomp.exe cimwin32.mof
Regsvr32 /s wbemupgd.dll
Regsvr32 /s wbemsvc.dll
wmiprvse /regserver
But still it is failing ,any pointers will be great...
Thanks

It sounds like a WMI corruption. You may want to look for the equivalent for Win Vista of this:
Do you have (or did) a sql 2000 installation as well? However, try installing sql 2k5 on a named instance.
Hope this helps.

Make sure you install SP2 of SQL Server 2005 in order for it to run on VISTA
