Error during setting up Log Shipping

  • I am encountering following error when setting up log shipping:

During startup of warm standby database 'Disaster' (database ID 5), its standby file ('C:\WINDOWS\system32\Disaster_20070412151459.TUF') was inaccessible to the RESTORE statement. The operating system error was '5(Access is denied.)'. Diagnose the operating system error, correct the problem, and retry startup.

The backup step ran fine. But on the restore it failed and threw out the error above. Why is it looking for .tuf file in 'C:\WINDOWS\system32\Disaster_20070412151459.TUF' ? I am providing another path.

    any ideas?

  • Are you getting the error from your primary or log ship machine?

I found that both machines had to be setup with identical security to get log shipping to work.  Both of my machines run sql server under an Administrator id "DBASQLServerAdmin" which has been granted admin group access.  Also make sure that your SQL Server agent is running using the admin account as this is what actually does the log ship and the security comes from this.

    Hope that this helps
