When I come to the "Components to install", all the options are disabled except "Workstation Components, Books online etc".
I am using Windows XP professional. Why cannot I install Database Services, Reporting Services etc?

What version of SQL Server 2005 are you trying to install?

The SQL 2005 install media comes on 2 CDs. CD1 contains the server components, CD2 contains only the client components. If you have DVD media, you will find the components in the Servers and Tools folders.
Check that you have the right CD in your drive.
If you copy the install media to disk, copy the tools CD into your destination folder first. Then copy the Servers CD. You can then install both server and client components from a single install folder.

I got it right now. I have downloaded the 2 CDs development edition and now I can see the options to install.
Just one more question, if I want to just install the Client Connectivity tools(after installing the database services), I have to run the setup.exe crom CD2?
Thanks,
