How to run SSIS packages without using SQL 2005

  • I am wondering if it is possible to deploy SSIS packages to a server that only has SSIS servicies installed.  No SQL server 2005 and agents are installed on that machine.

Would that be possible?  What is the best way to schedule running these pre-designed packages?  Thanks!

  • Hi,

I've not tried this on a stand alone SSIS installation yet but you should be able to execute the packages from the file system using the DTExec.exe utility. There is information about how you use this in the SQL Server 2005 Books Online. You can use the DTExecUI.exe to generate the command line parameters for you. I expect .dtsx file extension will be assigned to this in explorer by default.

As for scheduling you could use the operation system's "at" command. Check out the windows help file for how to use this.

    Regards
