I am new to SQL server administration, I want some useful links and notes from where I can get basic architecture and backup methodologies and perfomance tunning stuff .

You might get better feedback if you post in one of the SQL subfolders instead of the Notification Services area.

I got one DTS job failed, it showed me below error, how can I from this error to drill down exactly failed reason. Can you help?

The job started at 8/25/2008 1:55:01 PM and was in step IMPORT_EXCEL2_BDI_TPRO_DYN which issued the command 'DTSRun /~Z0x4B5BDB17C152F4620A090DB1BA70F '.

Then post in the most appropriate section ... ie, Backups, Security, Administration. Notice there are different areas for SQL 2000 and SQL 2005 etc...

I will migrate db to a new envirentment by sql server 2k5. I need to estimate what hardware and sofware which I need for migration. Here is my configuration for disk and raid level but not sure it is correct.

the db original is 3.7GB on 2006, 7.6GB on 2007, 12.9GB on 2008 ( no db archived). It looks like db grow 100% each year, so for 3 to 5 years hardware requiremnt, my disk configuration is:

TempDB_1: raid 1+0, 160GB

tempDB_2: raid 1+0, 160GB

Transaction Log: raid 1+0, 80GB

backup: 1500 raid 10

SQL server software + master + msdn, no raid, 50GB

data_1: raid 10, 160GB

data_2: raid 10, 160 GB

data_3: raid 10, 160GB

data_4 raid 10, 160GB

all above in seperate disk.

windowns server install 2003 64 bit

sql server 2005 32bit or 64bit not sure.

Any opinions for the configuration?

I would suggest you post this in SQL2005, Administration section.

It is pointless to post multiple SQL 2000 and 2005 questions in "Notification Services". You are not going to get much help this way.
