Here's the scenario... I make a database backup from one server and use that backup to restore to another, overriding an existing database with the same name. The overridden database now has new database ID. Our 3rd party backup software tries to do it's daily backup routine, but errors because of the changed ID.
Is there a way to change a database ID?
thanks.

Hello Thuan,
What do you mean by "overriding an existing database with the same name".
you are mentioning that you have taken a backup from server 1 and restored on server 2 but you have not selected the default database.
For example:
On Server 1 you have database "aaa". you have backed this database.
On Server 2 also you have a database with the name "aaa".
You need to restore the database "aaa" backup on to server 2 by selecting the database name "aaa" on server 2. then it would not create a new database with a new ID.
Hope you are clear.
Thanks and have a nice day!!!

I'm almost 100% sure I did just that, but you got me questioning myself.
