  where do i find a beginners guide to Ole Automation in sql server? i can find brief references to little bits of it or to small projects, but nothing that explains it from the beginning.  some things i cannot find answers to are :

  is it only DMO objects that can be called, or if i create my own dll in .NET with a method methodA, contained in classA, contained in namespaceA, how do i call this method?

  All examples show things like FileObjects, can someone show me a different example, calling a .NET assmebly, such as starting an external application from within sql server.  i just need to see this to compare and contrast.
