Reporting services is working, but i can't deploy... I get this additional information:
The attempt to connect to the report server failed. Check your connection information and that the report server is a compatible version. (microsoft.reportservices.designer) << OK >>
I am new to reporting server and have only (very) limited IIS experience.
I went thru RS tutorial all the way thru creating a basic report. Then tried to deploy...when i get the above message. Then I installed IIS on to Windows 2003 Server (Standard) to enable Rerporting Services web reporting. I realized after the fact that i should have installed IIS before reporting services. I deinstalled SQL2005 and reinstalled. Attempted to deploy and get the same error.
Can anyone point the way out?
Thanks!

Most likely you are referencing TargetServerURL in deployment properties as:
instead
Hope it helps,

I'm having the same issue. It appears to be the format in my TargetServerURL string.

Several connection and deploy issues I had were solved with Sqlserver2005 SP1.
Since Sp1 solved my issue, I did not go to Sp2.
solved with Sp -
could not deploy from BI tools
could not connect to reporting services in mngmt
( connect times out)
could not connect to reporting services in browser
( could not create \app_globalresources\)
could not open reportdesigner
( encountered HTML expected XML)
system:
windows 2000 server, sp4
vstudio 2005
