Hello everyone,
Been asked to put together a build request for a new SQL 2005 server. What I need to know from everyone is what your build requests would be in answer to the following provided specs.
Databases will grow to an estimated 1.8TB
Database growth is expected at about 10GB a day , over a 180 day period. Server will be connected to SAN.
Recovery plans would be to recover to a 24 hour period.
We are currently looking at a good spec server , 8 GB Ram , 8 dual processors , and all the other bits that you would expect with this spec of server.
What I really need to know is how other users would spec out the SAN disks in terms of RAID, seperation of data and log files.
Also any other questions I can go back to the server team with to ensure we are allocated everything SQL 2005 needs to run at it best in this environment.
Thanks everyone

SQL server EE (64 bit)
Data and Log file serperation (Raid 10)... but some SANs may give the same performance even the data and log files on the same drive based on LUN setup...
Multiple filegroups...
Table partitioning if neccessary...
