Connecting to Oracle 32 bit from SSIS 64 bit on 64 bit Windows 2003

  • Hi,

I am facing a strange issue in our SqL 2005 datawarehouse environment.

    Please see the details

    Our Development Environment

              OS: 32 bit windows 2003

BI Suite: SQL Server 2005 32 bit

Oracle 10g(32 bit) is one of our data sources for SSIS.

Oracle Server is located in another machine.

Oracle 10g 32 bit(Release 1) Client is installed on Dev server

              SSIS Packages are running fine

    Test Environment

            OS: 64 bit windows 2003

            BI Suite:SQL Server 2005 64 bit

Oracle 10g(32 bit) is one of our data sources for SSIS.

Oracle Server is located in another machine.

Oracle 10g 32 bit (Release 1) Client is installed on Dev server

Once we moved all the packages to Test Environment connection to Oracle has been failed.

    Please help.

  • Sorry I don't have any answers for you - just a similar question.  Migrating from 32-bit SQL Server 2000 to 64-bit SQL Server 2005/64-bit Windows Server and need Oracle connectivity from SSIS - looking for the best client arrangement to accomplish this.  Oracle host is 9i.

Also can DTS packages migrated from 2000 run as-is once a client is installed??  (ie. without having to be rewritten in SSIS).
