In SQL 2000 Ent. Manager I used to use the TASKPAD function to see how much was each .mdf and .ldf file were size wise and how much was actually being used. Then, if way over allocated I could easily shrink them. That appears to no longer exist in Mgt Studio.... or am I just not seeing it ... ?
I have to say from a DBA prospective I don't like the layout of Mgt Studio at all compared to Ent. Manager...

Markus,
the Taskpad view no loneger exists, but you can get the same information and more in SSMS. On the summary page select the Report tab on the top.

You are correct. I was connected via Mgt. Studio to a SQL 2000 install and was looking at a 2000 db. Once I connected to my SQL 2005 I could run the reports as they are greyed out for SQL 2000. I still cannot find the shrink options though... the reports are very good though I must say.

Sorry, I just found it via Books Online... Expand DB, tasks, shrink.....
