Good moring,
I am new to sql server OLAP services and
I Have 2 quick question I has hoping someone might reply to.
Question 1
What is the best way to determine if analysis services is installed? Is it a separate windows service?
Question 2
Can Olap Be installed a non SQL server box.

The answer to both is yes.
Analysis Services is a separate windows service, which in AS2000 runs as MSSQLServerOLAPService. You'll see this running as msmdsrv.exe in your task manager if you're looking at process names. In AS2005 it runs as SQL Server Analysis Services (<instance_name>.
AS can definitely be installed on a seperate box (large implementations dictate this). You just need to be aware of i) licensing implications and ii) for AS2000 where the repository is going to be (by default it's MSaccess on teh same machine as the service but it is often recommended to migrate this to SQL server, which can be local or remote).
