As I familiarize myself with SQL, I am noticing that there are seperate backup solutions specific to backing up SQL. How is this different than, lets say, Veritas Backup Exec with the SQL component installed? Also, is it worth it to use a proprietary solution when backing up SQL?
I am currently running Server 03 with SQL 2000 and using Veritas BE with SQL component as part of my normal backup routine. Is this a sufficient backup method?
Thanks for helping a newbie.

Hi,
Veritas uses same functions to backup the database used by MS.
It depend upon the size of the database.
What is ur database size?

What kind of backups and what frequency is Veritas performing?
Simply having it installed isn't enough.

I have 4 databases totaling approx. 67GB. Veritas is performing nightly full backups. Any suggestions as to how Veritas should be configured when backing up SQL databases?
