Cannot display Activity in SEM

  • This morning, rebooted my SQL Server (Standard Edition 2000 SP 3a)

    Because a 3rd Party Monitor that we have running that moniters xactions per sec, Cache/HIT ratio amoung other things was pegged out on 

    Active Transactions = 4.294E9 (I think this is measure in Scientific Notation)

    I checked the Server and Did not see problems - and it was early enough in the AM so I rebooted.

    Now, periodically.....  when I try and display the Current Activity in SEM , I get a pop up error 1222 which is a locking or blocking problem I think

    I"ve read this article, but I'm still not sure how to begin troubleshooting this..  any ideas???

  • Do you get this same counter in Performance Monitor, or System Monitor? Sounds like your counters might be screwed up.

    For the article, create the stored procedure at the bottom, and then create a script in a new window (shown in step 2) and run it. You take that output along with your perfmon output and profiler output, which it suggests running. Then you should be able to decode that information with this article:
