  I installed Crystall 11 on a server and it installed MSDE along with it. I have removed Crystal and am now installing SS2k Standard Edition. However, it is not allowing me to select the default instance during installation.

  I verified that SS is not in Add/Remove Programs. What can I do so that I can install the default instance.

  Maybe there is still something left from the previous installation. Have a look on this link:

  this will help you to remove manualy SQL Server.
