Am I correct in that a report can only see a shared datasource if it is deployed in the same folder as the report??
We wanted to structure our reports and datasources so that we had a single folder that contained all datasources
.../Shared DS
and had several folders which (say) mapped onto different reporting areas, each area would contain a number fo reports.
.../Area 1
../Area 2 etc...
Please can someone tell me if this arrangement is possible?
Thanks

yes, of course it's possible and recomended, too.
The shared data sources can be seen from any folder. I just finished in this very moment to make a change like this one.

Thanks, had a look into it abit further and did it by moving the datasource from within the RS interface.
However I have noticed that when I deploy a report fro within Visual Studio it recreates the Shared data source in the same folder as the report. Is there anyway to configure this so it does not create the shared data source or creates in it another folder??
Thanks Jeet

As far as I know, you can specify only one target folder for deploying. But yoyu can easily move the shared data source in your dedicated folder after all the testing work is done.
