  • What you want to do is to install only the client tools on your computer.  If you follow through the install process you will see this option.  Once you have done this yuou can open up the Enterprise Manager and register servers using SQL Server or NT Authentication.  This will then allow you to access any of the registered servers.

  • thank you, and i will find the client tools in the sql server cd?

  • Yep, youwill see an option for install client tools only.

  • thank you!!!!

  • I put the sql server standard edition cd and tried to install it and got an error message saying: "Microsoft SQL SErver 2000 Standard Edition server component is not supported on this operating system. Only client components will be availabe for installation"

    Help please....

  • hi,

that's fine, so say OK, and the install will continue, allowing you to install the client tools .

    hope this helps

  • try add a new group, then highlight the group name, right click and select "New SQL Server Registration" and then you're away

    hope this helps
