Corss domain connections

  • Hi,

    Here is the set up.

SQL Server 2000 ENT ED SP 3

    WINDOWS SERVER 2003 STD ED SP1 (Domain X )

There are 2 named instances on the server.

There is a windows group with users from domans Y ans Z. Domain Y has windows 2K workstations and domain Z havs XP workstations.

The group has been granted access on one of the named inatnces of sql server. Now the problem is when the user on the 2000 machines try to log in there get knocked back with hte NULL USER error, even though they are in the group. When they log in from the XP machines there is no problem. Also if they log in with a sql account from the 2000 machine there is no problem.

Is there something I am missing as to why the domain accounts from a 2K box cant access the databases???

Please help shed some light on this.

    Thanks

    Hope this helps...

  • When you say "There is a Windows group", what is the scope of this group? What is a domain functional level for Domain Y? Could it be that it is that it is Windows 2000 mixed? For example in case of Windows group having a Universal scope accounts from Windows 2000 mixed level domain will not be working in this group because Windows 2000 mixed domain does not support Universal groups.
