Restore taking too long

    Hi all,

    I have a database of size 50 GB. When I ran the backup using command it took 10 min. But when I try to restore the same database from a dump it takes more time (more than 20 min now). It has replication set up and I have used KEEP_REPLICATION option. (Restoring to more than one file)

    Also I forgot to make a note of articles that are published. Will i be able to find out which articles are published. Will not KEEP_REPLICATION option take care of that...

    I have stoped the distribution agent job that does the replication so that I can reinitiate it after restore. Am i doing something wrong

    Please help !!!!. Any idea why it takes time

    I do not know a lot about the replication...however have some questions...are you restoring to the same DB?  is that 50 gig filespace there?  maybe it is creating that space for the restore?

    You should take the .mdf file of your DB and then Attach it with new Database name rather taking and restoring the backups.

    It is much more faster than restore the DB.
