Does dbcc indexdefrag cuase buffer hit catio ratio to go down?

    Hi all,

     I just did a DBCC INDEXDEFRAG on all tables that was showing up bad fragmentation. I have been monitoring the buffer cache hit ratio of this server for the past 2 days. For the last 2 days the buffer cache hit ratio was 99.8.Now after I did the defragmentation the buffer cache hit ratio went down to 99.0. Did DBCC INDEXDEFRAG did that? Will it come back to 99.8

    I doubt if .8 difference in the buffer cache hit ratio is any indication of any change at all.. It is insignificant unless you have been experiencing any real issues..
