Sql Server Management Studio doesn''t save Connections....

  • I have a sql 2000 Default instance and a sql 2005 Named instance installed on the same Win 2003 Server box. When I go to the sql 2005 Management Studio, I can add connections to both of them in the Object explorer. But when I close, and then re-open the Management Studio, the connections are gone! I expected both of them to remain so I could easily administer them. What am I doing wrong?

    TIA,

    Bill

  • Bill,

What you want is the Registered Servers tool, not the Object Explorer.  Go to View and select Registered Servers; from there, you can add servers and server groups just like you're used to in Enterprise Manager for SQL2K.

  • That still doesn't seem as easy as the old enterprise manager.  However, I suppose it is just a matter of getting used to it.
